water

Water is very important. All living things need water to live. It is very useful. Without water, all living things cannot live. All plants will not grow, people and animals also will die.
Do you know how we get water in the tap? It passes through a pipe. But we must not drink it like that. We must boil it and drink. Then it will be safe for drinking. We will not get diseases. And also we use it to water plants, to use it to brush our teeth and to bath. But we must not waste it. For domestic purposes we must use rain water instead. When rain falls, we must put a bucket outside to collect rain water.
But sometimes it is a problem when rain falls in large quantities. It causes floods. But flood also is useful. It fills our reservoirs, lakes and rivers with water. We must drink a lot of water to stay healthy.

slaves

During the French and british period, many slaves ran away from their masters and hid themselves in the deep forests, in caves and gorges.
These ran away slaves were known as maroon slaves. They often attacked and robbed farmers to get food. Sometimes they set fire to farms.
Macchabe, Mangalkhan and Diamamouve were well known maroon slaves. Some places in Mauritius still bear their names.

living things

Importance of living things
Living things depend on other for survival. For example, many birds need trees to build their nests on. Other birds feed on particular trees.
If trees disappear, birds will also disappear

sweet dreams

Sweet dreams
if I could build my dream house
I’d made the bricks from cherries
I’d build the walls with waffies
And the roof with chocolate berries

I’d have candy cans for trees
And green icing for the grass
Plus a driveway made of sugar
And a pond of sassafras

If I could build my dream house
I would probably never pout
Because then I’d know what home sweet home.
Is really all about.

poem

We will meet again my friend,
A hundred years from today
Far away from where we live
And where we used to play.
We will know each others eyes
And wonder where we met
Your laugh will sound familiar
Your heart I wont forget
We will meet, im save of this
But let’s not wait till then...
Let’s take a walk beneath the stars
And share this world again.

l'eau

thaipoosum cavadee

In Mauritius we celebrate many festivals. The thaipoosum cavadee is the most important. It is celebrated in the month of January. It is celebrated tor the lord of Muruga. The day of thaipoosum cavadee is a puclic holiday. The devotees fast for ten days. . They eat only vegetarian foods. And when they go at the kovil, they sing many devotional songs and pray. One day before the festival they construct the cavadee, they need bamboo, coconut leaves, colourful flowers, pink cloth, decorations, the photo of muruga and bells. The last day when the cavadee is celebrated, very early in the morning, they go at the riverside. Then they pray with the cavadee. And then they put milk in 2 samboos and attach it to the cavadee. They pierce their tongue and their body with needles. A few devotees attach their mouth with a pink cloth. Then they put their cavadess on their shoulders. While the pilgrims make their route they say ‘ arogara’, ‘ vel vel muruga’ loudly. Then when they reach the kovil, the priest, takes out the needles or the cloths, then they enter the kovil. Then the priest take the devotees’ samboos and pour the milk on the statue of Muruga. Then they thank the God for giving them courage. They share a little of the milk to all the people who are in the kovil. Then they go home. The next day they come once  again to pray.

Sea and Sky
Everyone says that the sea is blue but everyone is wrong. It is not the sea which is blue but it is the reflection of the sky which makes the sea appear blue!

It makes me feel really good.
Yummy and nutrious food,
Keeps me in a super mood
Food is gift from above,
A sign for his assuring love
Let us not waste his treasure,
Let’s be thankful for this pleasure
I want the whole world to know
How it makes me go , grow and grow
Just eat healthy and nutrious food
And it would do you good.

global warming

Global warming is when the temperature rises on the earth. It is the result of human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels.
It happens when a large amount of carbon dioxide by millions of factories is released into the air. Part of this carbon dioxide in the air causes the air temperature to rise.
Global warming causes problems such as prolonged droughts, torrential rains and sometimes a rise in sea level has been noted as glaciers are melting at a fast rate.

Many children think that the sun turn around the Earth but it is not the sun that turn around the Earth. The Earth turn around the sun and remember this: the stars that we see at night are not stars but ‘suns’ that are bigger than our sun!
